When to add points
Extension leads are a symptom, not a solution
An extension lead is built for a weekend job. When one has been feeding your TV cabinet for six months, it has stopped being a lead and started being missing wiring. Double adaptors are the same story: every one you stack is asking a single point to do the work of two.

A safety switch cuts the power in a fraction of a second when electricity leaks where it should not, which is the difference between a tripped switch and a serious injury. The AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules require safety switch protection on new power circuits, and we do not cut that corner.
Plenty of older homes around Caulfield and Moorabbin still run switchboards with no safety switches at all, some still on ceramic fuses. We check your board before we start. If it needs work, you get a straight answer and a separate price for a switchboard upgrade, not a surprise on the invoice.

Power point questions, answered straight
How many power points can you add in one visit? +
Usually all of them. A typical job of three to six new points is done in a single visit, and bigger jobs are scoped upfront so you know exactly how long we will be there. We confirm the timeline in your quote.
Will you need to cut into my walls? +
Often not much. In most brick veneer and plaster homes we fish the cable through the wall cavity with minimal cutting. Where a cut is unavoidable we keep it small and tell you exactly where before we start, and any patching needs are spelled out in the quote.
Do new power points need a safety switch? +
Yes. The wiring rules require safety switch protection on new power circuits, and every point we install gets it. If your switchboard is too old to take a safety switch, we tell you before we start and quote the switchboard upgrade separately.
Can I just keep using a power board? +
A quality power board with overload protection is fine for low draw gear like a modem, TV and console. Heaters, kettles, dryers, anything with a heating element does not belong on one. If a power board is running heat appliances, that wall needs a real point.
What does a new power point cost? +
It depends on the wall type, the distance to the nearest circuit, and how many points you add in the one visit (each extra point costs less than the first). You get a fixed price before we start, and the quote does not move once we do.
